Hi elcid
As you know we have a motorhome, but all caravans and motorhomes
have their good and bad points so you choose the one with more good points
than bad, and most important take your time, the reason being we have met
a lot of people who have rushed into it and after about six months realize
they have made mistake and have to trade it in for another model, and yes
they lose money bawling

Hi Bald Eagle

we have a caravan and I agree it does seem as if the majority of houseguards own Motorhomes as opposed to caravans. We would be interested to hear why most people now opt for a Motorhome as opposed to a caravan

Hi Bald Eagle

Our caravan is a Bessacarr Cameo 2001 model. The reason why we purchased a Bessacarr caravan was because we liked the interior finishes after seening one a show some years ago.

Bessacarr is part of the swift group, they appear to be only making Motorhomes now under the Bessacarr name. One drawback for a lot of caravanners is that the Bessacarr is a heavy van , which your really need a 4x4 to tow it.

Your motorhome I presume from its make is American ?   it must be very spacious, but costly in fuel/ MPG

Hi gorille
We have looked in the bessacar motorhomes and it is finnished to
a very high standard so your caravan must be the same.
As for our motorhome its not american they are made in
lincolnshire, our's is a 25ft two berth so plenty of room and
its pretty good on diesel.

Hi Bald Eagle

excuse my ignorance about makes of Motorhomes, yes we bought our Bessacarr when it was 3yrs old. We could have purchased a new Caravan for the same price but it would not have had such a good finish and we were also persuaded to some degree by the Salesman.

The reason we opt for a caravan in preference to a Motorhome is because we like to explore an area when we are away. With a Motorhome we would be leaving all our possesions in a remote car park somwhere whereas with a Caravan you just leave it on site and go off with your vehicle. We have seen large Motorhomes towing small cars to tour locally with, but that ups you running costs significantly and towing a car behind a Motorhome looks a bit tricky to me.

The one big advantage of a Motorhome is that you hook and get settled much quicker when you on a site and towing a caravan is potentially more hazardous if something goes wrong on the road
I think it boils down to individual requirements and preferences

Hi Bald Eagle

Yes our Caravan does get the black marks. Most Caravan and Motorhome accessory place sell a black streak mover which does work, with a bit of elbow grease.

I think the black streaks are cause by the lorries, tar and pollution on the roads
