John Patton 1919 - 2007

John Patton always had a burning ambition to have his own business, and in 1992 he formed Houseguards, combining his love of the caravanning lifestyle with the desire to be successful. The simple formula was a winning one right from the start - John gained his first client through a line advert in the Daily Telegraph, then word of mouth recommendation meant that the business expanded rapidly, enabling John to take on more staff, and became the thriving business that it still is today.

We continue to run the business in the way that John started it (even though he sadly passed away 31 October 2007) - he was very much a 'people' person, and the business ethos reflects that. We have a small, but happy and dedicated team at Houseguards, and we believe that this shows in the service that we give our clients.

John was rightly proud of his achievements with Houseguards, but he was also a modest man who always put other people before himself. He will be greatly missed by us all, but his spirit lives on through the business he created.

I felt quite moved reading that, John sounds like the sort of person I would like to have known.

Do we get a 'meet the team' thread now, with mugshots of you all?

I had the pleasure of meeting John on a couple of occasions through work, as I was with him virtually from the start. He cared a great deal about everyone - the people who worked for him and the clients. He was a proper old fashioned gentleman who would not tolerate any kind of victimisation or profanity, especially when it was aimed at the likes of nurses / doctors etc, and was not afraid to rebuke those who did so. I'm not the only one who will miss the old chap - rest in peace John.
